“Your actual self is not a separate and lonely part of the world, but the real you is the world itself, everything that there is, expressing itself as this particular organism here and now. We are all tits on the same sow and rays from the same Sun.” -Alan Watts

“Spill the oil lamp. Set this dry boring place on fire! If you have ever made wanton love with God, then you have ignited that brilliant light inside that every person needs. ~ Hafiz

“The external world is just as much you as anything inside of your skin. You as a human being are a symptom of nature. You are not something that comes into the world, but something that comes out of it.” -Alan Watts

The softer your heart is the less that your past is forming your present and your future. When there is openness and softness of heart, what forms the present and the future is not the past but the reality of your own being – John de Ruiter

“My doctrine is to think the thought that is unthinkable, to practice the

deed that is unperformable, to speak the speech that is inexpressible, and to be trained in the discipline that is beyond discipline.” – Buddha

“Freedom is in the unknown. If you believe there is an unknown everywhere, in your own body, in your relationships with other people, in political institutions, in the universe, then you have maximum freedom.” – John Lilly

“After boarding a bus or train, you won’t carry the luggage, will you? You will put it down. Likewise, surrender everything to God. He will protect you. Have the thought that God is near you. If there is a place to rest nearby, the mere thought of unloading the luggage which we are carrying lessens the weight of the burden. If we think that there is no place to rest, then the baggage seems heavier. In the same way, when we think that God is near, all our burdens diminish.” -Amma

“Consciousness can only observe what undergoes change. ‘That’ which is eternal cannot be observed by consciousness or known by it. Unless you meditate on this point, the puzzle will not be solved.” ~ Nisargadatta

“There are only two ways to conquer destiny or be independent of it. One is to enquire for whom is this destiny and discover that only the ego is bound by destiny and not the Self, and that the ego is non-existent. The other way is to kill the ego by completely surrendering to the Universe and giving up all sense of “I” or “mine.”-Ramana

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A MASTERY OF YOUR MIND YOU CANNOT KNOW THE MYSTERY OF EXISTENCE” – YOGI BHAJAN

“You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestation of your own blessings.” -Elizabeth Gilbert

“Anxiety cannot be dissolved through thinking because thinking itself is a sort of anxiety.”- Osho

“The Self is like the screen and the world is like the pictures on it. You can see the picture only so long as there is a screen. But when the seer himself becomes the screen, only the Self remains.” – Ramana

“The uniqueness of life is multidimensional. You cannot compare your woman in the morning with your woman in the night. Much water has flown down the Ganges since then.” -Osho

“It is the ego that needs the ideas of equality, superiority, inferiority. These are props. Without these the ego cannot exist. Withdraw the props and ego falls flat on the ground and disappears. -Osho

“The sense of doership is bondage, and not the actions themselves. Be still and know that I am God. When stillness prevails there will be no agitation of the mind. Agitation of the mind is the cause of desire, the sense of doership, and of personality, or the personal sense of “I”. If that is stopped, there is eternal peace and bliss.~ Ramana Maharshi.

“Whatsoever you come across is God. You, the people you love, and people you hate, are all manifestations of God. The moment one recognizes that all as one, love arises on its own accord.” – Osho

“‘Being Still’ is not an effortless state of indolence. All mundane activities which are ordinarily called effort are performed with the aid of a portion of the mind and with frequent breaks. But the act of communion with the Self (atma vyavahara) or remaining still inwardly is intense activity which is performed with the entire mind and without break. Maya (delusion or ignorance) which cannot be destroyed by any other act is completely destroyed by this intense activity which is called ‘silence’ (mouna).” – Sri Ramana Maharshi.

“Remain all the time steadfast in the heart. God will determine the future for you to accomplish the work. What is to be done will be done at the proper time. Don’t worry. Abide in the heart.” – Sri Ramana Maharshi.

“As you persevere more and more in the practice of Self-enquiry, the mind acquires increasing strength and power to abide in its Source.” – Sri Ramana Maharshi.

“Your duty is to be and not to be this or that. ‘I am that I am’ sums up the whole truth. The method is summed up in the words ‘Be still’. What does stillness mean? It means destroy yourself. Because any form or shape is the cause of trouble. Give up the notion that ‘I am so and so’. All that is required to realize the Self is to be still. What can be easier than that? Hence atmavidya (Self-knowledge] is the easiest to attain.” – Sri Ramana Maharshi.

“The conception that there is a goal and a path to it is wrong. We are the goal or peace always. To get rid of the notion that we are not peace is all that is required.” – Sri Ramana Maharshi.

“I am a hole in the flute that the Christ’s breath moves through. Listen to this music. I am the concert from the mouth of every creature singing with the myriad chords.” – Hafiz

“Retire into solitude. Seat yourself on a clean spot in an erect posture, with the head and neck in a straight line. Control all sense-organs. Bow down in devotion to your teacher. Then enter the lotus of the heart and meditate there on the presence of Brahman – the pure, the infinite, the blissful.” ~Kalvalya Upanishad

“Never doubt my love. Not even when you’re sent challenges and tests. Both inside you and in the outside world everything is for your highest good and always for your inner growth. Always. Whenever you call for me inwardly, I am already there, waiting to draw you into My heart. Be always ready for anything. My blessings have no end.” ~Babaji

“Only in the darkness can you see the stars.” ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

“The singer exists only in singing. The walker exists only in walking. So is the ego; the ego exists only in clinging, in possessing things, in dominating things. When there is no domination, no desire to dominate, no desire to cling, no desire to possess, the ego starts evaporating.” ~Osho

“Everybody wants to be extraordinary. That is the search of the ego; to be someone who is special, unique, and incomparable. This is the paradox, the more you try to be exceptional, the more ordinary you look because everyone is after extraordinaryness. It is such an ordinary desire. The very search to be ordinary is actually extraordinary, because rarely does somebody want to be a nobody. Rarely does somebody want to be a hollow empty space. Yet, this is really extraordinary because nobody wants it. So when you become ordinary, you become extraordinary.” ~Osho

“The one thing that love requires is to let others know they are not alone.” ~Todd (Heaven is for Real)

–OSHO

“Compassion is not against anger. When anger disappears, compassion is. Compassion is not to be fought for; it is not against passion. When passion disappears, compassion is. Compassion is your nature.” ~ Osho

“Anger is there, take note of it and just watch how it arises, how it spreads like a mushroom, how it covers you like a blinding force; how it starts making decisions for you, how you start acting according to it. Just watch, and you will be surprised that it cannot do anything. As it arises, it will not even go to the point of becoming a mushroom because it can become a mushroom only by nourishment. By watching it you have cut the very nourishment. It will arise as a crippled anger which cannot stand up even, and soon it will disperse like mist. It has no reality except your identification.” ~ Osho

“Repressed anger becomes a temporary madness. Something happens which is beyond your control. If you could have controlled, you would have controlled it still — but suddenly it was overflowing. Suddenly it was beyond you. You couldn’t do anything, you felt helpless — and it came out. Such a person may not be angry, but he moves and lives in anger.” ~ Osho

“Don’t listen to anybody except your own consciousness. When you are angry, you lose consciousness, you become unconscious. Anger covers you like a black cloud. You can commit murder, you can destroy life. But when you are loving, bells of joy start ringing in your heart. You start feeling your consciousness rising. And if in love also you lose consciousness, become unconscious, then remember: you are calling lust, love. And this kind of love is not the right thing, because it is not going to help you to grow, to expand, to attain the fulfillment of your potential.” ~ Osho

“How do you throw your inner conflict and unease? You make the other responsible, then you pass through a catharsis. You can become angry now, you can throw your anger and violence and this will give you a release, a relief — of course temporary, because the inside has not changed. It will again accumulate, it remains the old. Tomorrow again it will accumulate anger, hatred, and you will have to project it. You fight with others because you go on accumulating rubbish inside yourself and you have to throw it out. A person who has conquered himself has become a self-conqueror, has no inner conflict. The war has ceased. He is one inside — there are not two. Such a man will never project, such a man will not fight with anybody else.” ~ Osho

“Anger is active sadness; sadness is inactive anger. They are not two things. Watch your own behaviour. When do you find yourself sad? You find yourself sad only in situations where you cannot be angry. The boss in the office says something and you cannot be angry; it is uneconomical. You cannot be angry and you have to go on smiling — then you become sad. The energy has become inactive. You come home, and with your wife you find a small thing, anything irrelevant, and you become angry.” ~ Osho

“Understanding transforms, it does not sublimate. If you understand, anger disappears and the same energy becomes compassion. Not that you sublimate: anger simply disappears, and the energy that was involved, invested in anger, is released and becomes compassion. When you understand hate, hate disappears and the same energy becomes love. Love is not against hate — it is absence of hate.” ~ Osho

“Understand anger, watch anger, become aware of anger. Don’t do anything; just let it be there in front of you. Look deep into it, and suddenly you will see that just by looking into it, a transformation starts happening. Just by observation, anger starts changing into compassion. There is the key. Nothing has to be done — just awareness does everything for you. And of course, then you are patient. Not that you have controlled your anger. You are patient because you are so happy. You are patient because your anger is transformed into compassion. You are patient because your hatred has become love. You are patient because your greed has become a sharing. You are patient because now you are enjoying life at its peak.” ~ Osho

“Somebody insults you and you feel anger. Don’t miss this opportunity; try to understand why, why this anger. And don’t make it a philosophical thing. Don’t go to the library to consult about anger. Anger is happening to you — it is an experience, a live experience. Focus your whole attention on it and try to understand why it is happening to you. It is not a philosophical problem. No Freud is to be consulted about it. There is no need! It is just foolish to consult somebody else while anger is happening to you. You can touch it. You can taste it. You will be burned by it.” ~ Osho

“Try to understand why it is happening, from where it is coming, where the roots are, how it happens, how it functions, how it overpowers you, how in anger you become mad. Anger has happened before, it is happening now, but now add a new element to it, the element of understanding — and then the quality will change. Then, by and by, you will see that the more you understand anger, the less it happens. And when you understand it perfectly, it disappears. Understanding is like heat. When the heat comes to a particular point — one hundred degrees — the water disappears.” ~ Osho

“Got no check books, got no banks. Still I’d like to express my thanks –

I got the sun in the morning and the moon at night.” Irving Berlin

“Meditation is not really mind-effort. Real meditation is not effort at all. Real meditation is just allowing the mind to have its own way, and not interfering in any way whatsoever — just remaining watchful, witnessing. It silences, by and by, it becomes still. One day it is gone. You are left alone.” -Osho

“Life isn’t about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself” ~George Bernard Shaw

“Life expands or contracts in proportion to one’s courage” – Anaïs Nin

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead to a better understanding of ourselves.” – Carl Jung

“When I let go of who I am, I become what I might be.” – Lao Tzu

“Which is the real power (siddhi)? Is it to increase prosperity or bring about peace? That which results in peace is the highest perfection (siddhi). ~ Ramana Maharshi

“Do not delude yourself by imagining your source to be some God outside you. Your source is within yourself. Give yourself up to it. That means that you should seek the source within and merge with it. ~ Ramana Maharshi

“Complete surrender does require that you have no desire of your own. You must be satisfied with whatever God gives you and that means having no desire of your own. ~ Ramana Maharshi

“It is absurd to say either: “I have not realized the Self,” or “I have realized the Self.” Why? Are there two selves for one to be the object of the other? It is the experience of all that it (the Self) is one.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

Stick to this “I”-thought and question it to find out what it is. When this question takes strong hold on you, you cannot think of other thoughts. ~ Ramana Maharshi

What does it matter how many thoughts rise? At the very moment that each thought rises, if one vigilantly inquires, “To whom did this rise?” it will be known “To me.” If one then inquires, “Who am I?” the mind will turn back to its source (the Self) and the thought which had risen will also subside. By repeatedly practicing thus, the power of the mind to abide in its source increases. ~ Ramana Maharshi

The mind will subside only by means of the inquiry, “Who am I?” The thought “Who am I,” destroying all other thoughts, will itself finally be destroyed like the stick used for stirring the funeral pyre. ~ Ramana Maharshi

If you are vigilant and make a stern effort to reject every thought when it rises, you will soon find that you are going deeper and deeper into your own inner self. At this level it is not necessary to make an effort to reject thoughts. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Cling to yourself, that is, to the “I”-thought. When your interest keeps you to that single idea, other thoughts will automatically get rejected and they will vanish. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Reality is simply the loss of ego. Destroy the ego by seeking its identity. Because the ego is no entity it will automatically vanish and reality will shine forth by itself. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Atma-vichara (Self-Inquiry) alone can reveal the truth that neither the ego nor the mind really exists, and enable one to realize the pure, undifferentiated being of the Self or the absolute. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Having realized the Self, nothing remains to be known, because it is perfect bliss, it is the all. ~ Ramana Maharshi

The attempt to destroy the ego or the mind through sadhanas (practices) other than atma-vichara (Self-Inquiry) is just like the thief pretending to be a policeman to catch the thief that is himself. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Self-Inquiry is the one infallible means, the only direct one, to realize the unconditioned, Absolute Being that you really are. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Vichara (inquiry) is the process and the goal also. “I am” is the goal and the final reality. To hold to it with effort is vichara. When spontaneous and natural it is realization. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Realization is nothing new to be acquired. It is already there, but obstructed by a screen of thoughts. All our attempts are directed to lifting this screen and then realization is revealed. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Meditation requires an object to meditate upon, whereas there is only the subject without the object in vichara (inquiry). Meditation differs from vichara in this way. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Hold the ego first and then ask how it is to be destroyed. Who asks the question? It is the ego. This question is a sure way to cherish the ego and not to kill it ~ Ramana Maharshi

The essence of mind is only awareness or consciousness. When the ego, however, dominates it, it functions as the reasoning, thinking or sensing faculty ~ Ramana Maharshi

The idea of time is only in your mind. It is not in the Self. There is no time for the Self. Time arises as an idea after the ego arises.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

The mind cannot kill itself. So, your business is to find the real nature of the mind. Then you will know that there is no mind. When the Self is sought, the mind is nowhere. Abiding in the Self, one need not worry about the mind. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Speaking of realization, it implies two selves-the one to realize, the other to be realized. What is not already realized is sought to be realized. Once we admit our existence, how is it that we do not know our self? ~ Ramana Maharshi

Because we exist the ego appears to exist. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Hearing the truth (sravana) is the first stage. If the understanding is not firm one has to practice reflection (manana) and uninterrupted contemplation (nididhyasana) on it. These two processes scorch the seeds of samskaras (mental tendencies) so that they are rendered ineffective. ~ Ramana Maharshi

That upon which memory and oblivion depend is the idea of the individual self. When one looks for it, this individual “I” is not found because it is not real. Hence this “I” is synonymous with illusion or ignorance (maya, avidya or ajnana). ~ Ramana Maharshi

When you identify yourself with the body then only the forms and shapes are there. But when you transcend your body the others disappear along with your body-consciousness. ~ Ramana Maharshi

When you try to trace the ego, which is the basis of the perception of the world and everything else, you find the ego does not exist at all and neither does all this creation that you see ~ Ramana Maharshi

The ego–self appears and disappears and is transitory, whereas the real Self is permanent. Though you are actually the true Self you wrongly identify the real Self with the ego–self. ~ Ramana Maharshi

There is no goal to be reached. There is nothing to be attained. You are the Self.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

One believes that there is bondage and therefore seeks liberation. But the fact is that there is no bondage but only liberation. Why call it by a name and seek it?” ~ Ramana Maharsh

The state of being is permanent; things in the world are not. They are fleeting phenomena passing on the screen of being–consciousness, which is eternal and stationary.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

How long does it take to reach mukti (liberation)? Mukti is not to be gained in the future. It is there forever, here and now. Abiding in that consciousness by which we know that we exist is absolute stillness. It’s thoughtless Awareness. It’s consciousness without an object or a subject. It is the Awareness that’s prior to subject, prior to object. This is what is meant by Self-abidance. This is what is meant by Silence. This is Stillness. In this silent stillness, there is peace.

Realization is for everyone; realization makes no difference between the aspirants. This very doubt, whether you can realize, and the notion “I-have-not-realized” are themselves the obstacles. Be free from these obstacles also.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

There is no reaching the Self. If Self were to be reached, it would mean that the Self is not here and now and that it is yet to be obtained. What is got afresh will also be lost.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

Realization is nothing to be gained afresh; it is already there. All that is necessary is to get rid of the thought “I have not realized.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

If a man thinks that his happiness is due to external causes and his possessions, it is reasonable to conclude that his happiness must increase with the increase of possessions and diminish in proportion to their diminution. Therefore, if he is devoid of possessions, his happiness should be nil. What is the real experience of man? Does it conform to this view? No. ~ Ramana Maharshi

That which is called happiness is only the nature of Self; Self is not other than perfect happiness. That which is called happiness alone exists. Knowing that fact and abiding in the state of Self, enjoy bliss eternally.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

The mind turned inwards is the Self; turned outwards, it becomes the ego and all the world.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“There is only one state, that of consciousness or awareness or existence. The three states of waking, dream and sleep cannot be real. They simply come and go. The real will always exist.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“Actually, the idea of the Self being the witness is only in the mind; it is not the absolute truth of the Self. Witnessing is relative to objects witnessed. Both the witness and his object are mental creations.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“The mind is intangible, in fact it does not exist. The surest way to control it is to seek it. Then its activities cease.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“There are no others to be helped, for a realized being sees only the Self; just like a goldsmith estimating the gold in various items of jewelry sees only the gold.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“All metaphysical discussion is profitless unless it causes us to seek within the Self for the true reality. All controversies about creation, the nature of the universe, evolution, the purpose of God, etc., are useless. They are not conducive to our true happiness. People try to find out about things which are outside of them before they try to find out “Who am I?” Only by the latter means can happiness be gained.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“The proper way to get rid of a desire is to find out “Who gets the desire? What is its source?” When this is found, the desire is rooted out and it will never again emerge or grow.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“Meditation is not so much thinking of the Self as giving up thinking of the not-Self. When you give up thinking of outward objects and prevent your mind from going outwards by turning it inwards and fixing it in the Self, the Self alone remains.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“The final obstacle in meditation is ecstasy; you feel great bliss and happiness and want to stay in that ecstasy. Do not yield to it but pass on to the next stage which is great calm.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“You must never rest content with the pleasure of Laya (temporary abeyance of the mind) experienced when thought is quelled, you must press on until all duality ceases.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“The normal self is the mind. The mind is with limitations. But pure Consciousness is beyond limitations, and is reached by investigation into the “I”” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“Which is the real power (siddhi)? Is it to increase prosperity or bring about peace? That which results in peace is the highest perfection (siddhi).” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“There is no moment when the Self as consciousness does not exist, nor can the seer remain apart from consciousness.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“Renunciation is always in the mind, not in going to forests or solitary places, or giving up one’s duties. The main thing is to see that the mind does not turn outward but inward.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“Attending to the Self means attending to the work. Because you identify yourself with the body, you think that work is done by you. But the body and its activities, including that work, are not apart from the Self.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“The feeling “I work” is the hindrance. Ask yourself, “Who works?” Remember who you are. Then the work will not bind you, it will go on automatically.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

“Self-Inquiry directly leads to realization by removing the obstacles which make you think that the Self is not already realized.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

Abide in your true nature. What does that mean? Cease identifying with the objectified movement of consciousness; i.e., with consciousness moving outward or objectively, and remain in non-objective Awareness, or pure Being. ~ Ramana

Silence is never-ending speech. Vocal speech obstructs the other speech of silence. In silence one is in intimate contact with the surroundings.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

You may think and say you are choosing happiness, but the moment you rise in identification with the mind, you just told a lie about choosing happiness, you have just proven otherwise. Don’t say one thing and be something else. ~ Ramana Maharshi

“When one remains without thinking one understands another by means

of the universal language of silence.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

Being your Self is being pure Love, and that is what bliss is.

There is no real love until you are that pure Love. ~ Ramana Maharshi

All that we have to do is to give up identifying the Self with the body, with forms and limits, and then we shall know ourselves as the Self that we always are.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

The sense of doership is bondage, and not the actions themselves. “Be still and know that I am God.” Stillness will prevail and there will be no agitation of the mind. Agitation of the mind is the cause of desire, the sense of doership, and of personality, or the personal sense of “I.” If that is stopped, there is quiet.~ Ramana Maharshi.

All that we have to do is to give up identifying the Self with the body, with forms and limits, and then we shall know ourselves as the Self that we always are.” ~ Ramana Maharshi

The moment you start looking for the Self and go deeper and deeper, the real Self is waiting there to take you in” ~ Ramana Maharshi

The sense of doership is bondage, and not the actions themselves. “Be still and know that I am God.” Stillness will prevail and there will be no agitation of the mind. Agitation of the mind is the cause of desire, the sense of doership, and of personality, or the personal sense of “I.” If that is stopped, there is quiet. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Consciousness of the Self is the normal state; our present entanglement is the abnormal state. We imagine that we have to develop towards a perfect state, when we are already in it now, but have covered it with external things and thoughts. People talk of attaining the super-consciousness, but this is wrong. This Self is our normal consciousness; we imagine we have to develop and attain it, but we are in it all the time, it is just that our attention is diverted away from it to the intellect and to objects. ~ Ramana Maharshi

All the ancient scriptures are intended simply to make us retrace our steps to the original source. There is no need to gain anything. We must simply give up false ideas and useless accretions. Instead of doing this, we try to catch hold of something strange and mysterious, believing that happiness lies elsewhere. That is the mistake. ~ Ramana Maharshi

The Heart is the center from which everything springs. Because you now see the world, the body etc, it is said that there is a center for them called the Heart. But when actually in it, the Heart is neither in the center nor at the circumference as then there is nothing else. ~ Ramana Maharshi

The life-current originates in the Heart. This Heart is not the physiological organ of that name, but a spiritual center near to it. Thus everyone, even a child, of every creed or race, when referring to the “heart” as a metaphor for their deepest feelings will nevertheless point to the breast with their hand. But such discussions as inside or outside the body cannot arise in Self-realization. ~ Ramana Maharshi

When you have found the center, you will find that it encompasses the whole world; if you want, the radius can be extended to your body or to the world. We start with the wrong presumption that the circle is confined to the human form. Locate the center first. To that you always return, and you always remain in it; it is the common center for all humanity when they realize. ~ Ramana Maharshi

The Self is simple Being. Be! and there will be an end to ignorance. The “I” is always there. There is no knowing it. It is not new knowledge to be acquired. There is an obstruction to its knowledge called ignorance. Remove it. Ignorance and knowledge are not for the Self: they should be cleared away. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Can I go on thinking “I am God?” Is that right practice? ~ Ramana Maharshi

In fact you are God. But who goes around saying, “I am a man,” “I am a male?” Of course, if there were any contrary thought that had to be refuted, such as, “I am an animal,” then you might say, “I am a man.” To the extent of crushing the wrong notion that one is this or that, according to one’s erroneous fancies, you may indulge in the thought, but when the practice is over, the result will be no thought at all but merely Self-realization. There is no need of or meaning in thought at that stage; it is beyond conceptual thought. ~ Ramana Maharshi

There can be no real investigation into the Atman. The investigation can only be made into the non-self. It is only possible to eliminate the non-self. As the Self is always self-evident, it will shine of itself. “Knowing” means “Being.” It is not relative knowledge. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Progress can be spoken of in reference to things to be attained, whereas here it is the removal of ignorance, and not the acquisition of knowledge. ~ Ramana Maharshi

The idea of diversity comes with body-consciousness, which arose at some moment; it has an origin and an end. What originates must be something. What is that something? It is “I”-consciousness. On finding its source you realize Absolute Consciousness. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Can the world exist without one to cognize it? Which comes first the being-consciousness or the rising-consciousness? The former is always there and eternal; the latter rises and disappears. It is transient. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Know the Self, and God is known. Of all the definitions of God, none is so well put as the Biblical “I AM THAT I AM” in the book of Exodus. But none is so direct as the name Jehovah “I AM.” The Absolute Being is what is. It is the Self. It is God. ~ Ramana Maharshi

The Self is here and now and alone. It is not new and something to be acquired. It is natural and permanent. The term “Self” refers to the unlimited, the infinite Self; do not limit its meaning. ~ Ramana Maharshi

All thoughts such as, “Attainment is hard,” or “Self-realization is far from me,” or “I have to overcome many difficulties to know Reality,” should be given up, as they are obstacles and are created by this false self, ego. They are untrue. Do not doubt that you are the Reality; live in that understanding. Never question it by deferring your realization of it to some future time. It is because people are victimized and hypnotized by such false thoughts that the Gita says that few out of millions realize the Self. ~ Ramana Maharshi

The Self is beyond duality. If there is one there will also be two. Without one there are no other numbers. The truth is neither one nor two. It is as it is. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Be always feeling and reflecting on the real Being. Be That. Cling close to It. Let your quest be constant and sustained until you catch the Self and thereby find eternal happiness.~ Ramana Maharshi

The fact is that you are ignorant of your blissful state. Ignorance draws a veil over the pure Bliss. Direct your attempts only towards removing the ignorance. This ignorance is just wrong knowledge. The wrong lies in the false identification of the Self with the body and mind. This false identity must go by inquiry into the Self. ~ Ramana Maharshi

There is no reaching the Self. If it were to be reached, it would mean that the Self is not here and now, but would have to be gained. What is got afresh will also be lost. So it will be impermanent. What is not permanent is not worth striving for. So I say the Self is not reached. You are the Self. You are already That. ~ Ramana Maharshi

See what the Self is. What you consider to be the Self is really either the mind, the intellect, or the “I”-thought. So hold onto the “I”-thought and the other thoughts will vanish, leaving the Self. ~ Ramana Maharshi

The changefulness is mere thought. All thoughts arise after the “I”-thought. See to whom these thoughts arise. Then you will transcend them and they will subside. That is to say, by tracing the source of the “I”-thought, you will realize that the perfect “I-I-I” is the name of the Self. ~ Ramana Maharshi

There are neither good nor bad qualities in the Self. The Self is free from all qualities. Qualities pertain to the mind only. The inquiry should be where the “I” is. After the rise of the “I”-thought, there is false identification of the “I” with the body, the senses, and the mind. Self is wrongly associated with them; one has lost sight of the true Self. In order to sift the pure “I” from the contaminated “I,” this discarding (of the koshas or sheaths referred to in the Sastras [Scriptures]) is mentioned. It does not mean exactly the discarding of the non-self, but more the finding of the real Self. The real Self is the infinite “I-I” in perfection. It is eternal. It has no origin and no end. The other “I” is born and dies. It is impermanent. See to whom the changing thoughts occur. They will be found to arise after the “I”-thought. Hold onto the “I”-thought and they will subside. The Self alone will remain. ~ Ramana Maharshi

Are there two “I’s?” How do you know your existence? Do you see yourself with these eyes? Question yourself. How does this question arise? Do I remain to ask it or not? Can I find myself as I do in a mirror? Because your outlook has been turned outwards, it has lost sight of the Self and your vision is external. The Self is not found in external objects. Turn your gaze around and plunge within. You will be the Self. ~ Ramana Maharshi

The peace that you discovered in your temporary spiritual experiences was found in your Self. It was not imposed upon you. A time will come when we shall have to laugh at our own efforts to realize, for we shall find that what we were before and after is the same. ~ Ramana Maharshi

One who knows the Self has nothing more to do, nor has he any more thoughts. From then on, the infinite power will carry out all further actions that may be necessary for him. ~ Ramana Maharshi

“The final obstacle in meditation is ecstasy; you feel great bliss and happiness and want to stay in that ecstasy. Do not yield to it but pass on to the next stage, which is great calm. ~ Ramana Maharshi

“Peace is the inner nature of humankind. If you find it within yourself, you will then find it everywhere. ~Ramana Maharshi

“It is the Teachings that survive the Teacher. It is the Teachings that survive the Rituals. Constructing a Cathedral to God is building for the Ego, the lower self. Constructing a Cathedral to share the Teachings, to Serve humans, to promote Peace, to end poverty, war, loneliness and despair, inequality……. this is the true monument to God. There are scant few of these.” ~Babaji

“There is enough energy in a single cubic meter of space to boil all the oceans in the world.” ~Richard Feynman

“In the stillness lies the greatest power. When consciousness becomes perfectly still, the illusion is perfectly understood because it is consciousness that is creating the illusion. When the thinking mind is still, then you see reality as it is. You realize that Self and other are not separate. The mountain and valley are inseperable. Everything is connected, one consciousness, one field that moves through all. Everything has spirit. It is happening through you, as you. You are the “you” in Universe.” ~Awaken The World Film http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXuTt7c3Jkg

“When man is born, he is tender and weak; at death he is hard and stiff. When things and plants are alive, they are soft and supple; when they are dead they are brittle and dry. Therefore hardness and stiffness are the companions of death, and softness and gentleness the companions of life. When an army is headstrong, it will lose in battle. When a tree is hard, it will be cut down. The big and strong belong underneath. The gentle and weak belong at the top.” – Lao Tzu

“The periphery is moving, your center is not moving. In your center there is a silence, with no anger and no anti-anger, no sex and no celibacy, no greed and non-greed, no violence and no nonviolence because those are all outside. All the opposites are on the outside, inside you are neither this nor that. You are simply a being, pure. Being like a god, a pure being with no opposites hanging around, fighting or flighting. Simply being.” – Osho

“There is no need to run towards the Ocean. Just slowly enjoy the trees, and the birds, and the people, having a trust in your heart that every river has always reached the Ocean so you cannot be the exception. Existence does not allow any exceptions. You will also reach the Ocean.” ~Osho

“Reality is simply the loss of ego. Destroy the ego by seeking its identity. Because the ego is no entity it will automatically vanish and reality will shine forth by itself. This is the direct method.” – Sri Ramana Maharshi

“There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it.

You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good.

Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy.

Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living.” ~Unknown

“Learn to sit and rest. Fall into deep rest, so the breathing becomes natural, the body becomes cool, all the fever of constant desire and turmoil disappears, evaporates. And then work. That work will have a totally different quality. It won’t be out of desire, it will be pure creativity.” ~Osho

“God is there only if you surrender. Surrender makes anything God. Surrender gives you the eyes, and everything that is brought to these eyes becomes Divine. Don’t waste your life for that which is going to be taken away. Trust life. Trust God. If you trust, only then can you drop your knowledge, only then can you put your mind aside. And with trust, something immense opens up. Then this life is no longer ordinary life, it becomes full of God, overflowing. When the heart is innocent and the walls have disappeared, you are bridged with infinity. And you are not deceived; there is nothing that can be taken away from you. That which can be taken away from you is not worth keeping, and that which cannot be taken away from you… why should one be afraid of its being taken away? It cannot be taken away, there is no possibility. You cannot lose your real treasure.” ~Osho

‘’There are no choices that are really a detour that will take you far from where you’re wanting to be—because your Inner Being is always guiding you to the next, and the next, and the next. “Only do and act on only that which makes you more joyous, fulfills you, gives you contentment, makes your life a work of art, a beauty. But this is possible only if the master in you is awake. Because every embodied individual is composed of a body, a mind and a spirit, the ancient Rishis of India who developed the Science of Life organized their wisdom into three bodies of knowledge: Ayurveda, which deals mainly with the physical body; Yoga, which deals mainly with spirit; and Tantra, which is mainly concerned with the mind. The philosophy of all three is identical; their manifestations differ because of their differing emphases. Robert Svoboda Motilal Banarsidass

“As we mature in our spiritual understanding, that we are a part of everything in the world, and that we are capable of creating in our world, the more we believe that it is possible the less important it becomes to change the reality. When we feel we are powerless our ego most wants to change the things in our world. As we realize we have the power to change our reality the maturity that comes with that understanding changes us, and we find ourselves in acceptance of what is with less desire of feeling our need to change the world around us.” -Gregg Braden

And as guests they are beautiful, but if you forget completely that you are the host and they become the hosts, then you are in a mess. This is what hell is. You are the master of the house, the house belongs to you, and guests have become the masters. Receive them, take care of them, but don’t get identified with them; otherwise, they will become the masters.” ~Osho

“You go on thinking that thoughts are yours. Not only that, you fight for your thoughts, you say, ”This my thought, this is true.”You discuss, you debate, you argue about it, you try to prove that, ”This is my thought.” No thought is yours, no thought is original–all thoughts are borrowed. And not second hand, because millions of people have claimed those same thoughts before you.Thought is just as outside as a thing.” -Osho

“Every brother is a gift because every person is unique and brings something new to the table. There is nothing like newness to stimulate rebirth.” ~St Francis of Assisi

“Only you can say where the road goes for one sets his goals for the hour, for the relationship, for the phase of life.” — L. Ron Hubbard

“One can feel at times like a spinning leaf blown along a dirty street, one can feel like a grain of sand stuck in one place. But nobody has said that life was a calm and orderly thing: it isn’t. One isn’t a tattered leaf nor a grain of sand: one can, to greater or lesser degree draw his road map and follow it.” — L. Ron Hubbard

“One can feel that things are such now that it is much too late to do anything, that one’s past road is so messed up that there is no chance of drawing a future one that will be any different: there is always a point on the road when one can map a new one. And try to follow it. There is no person alive who cannot make a new beginning.” — L. Ron Hubbard

‘When you love, you have to become nobody. If you remain somebody, then love never happens. When you love a person–even for a single moment love happens and flows between two persons–there are two nothingnesses, not two persons. If you have ever had any experience of love, you can understand. Two lovers sitting by each other’s side, or two nothingnesses sitting together–only then the meeting is possible because barriers are broken, boundaries thrown away. The energy can move from here to there; there is no hindrance. And only in such a moment of deep love is orgasm possible.” -Osho

“All the greatest treasures are hidden behind that which we wouldn’t want to be with. You’re this ultimate mischief and brilliance. All the wisdom, compassion and treasure is within…so where are you going to hide it?” ~Pamela Wilson

“It’s such a surprise to notice that you are the pulsing heart of the emptiness, the mountain strength of the vastness.” ~Pamela Wilson

“The day on which we come to know the supreme consciousness within us, then the outside world will also appear to us like the expanse of the supreme consciousness. The whole will be a mirror to us when we become a mirror within. If we stand near a stone, then we will be able to see ourselves even in the stone. Then we will not look at the stone with that hardness with which we look at man now. Then we shall touch a stone as if we are touching our beloved, because the stone is not stone, then it is God.” ~Osho

“It is not easy to find happiness in ourselves, and it is not possible to find it elsewhere.” -Agnes Repplier

“There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things that are beyond the power of our will.” -Epictetus

“For the rational, healthy person, the desire for pleasure is the desire to celebrate his control over reality. For the neurotic, the desire for pleasure is the desire to escape from reality.” -Nathaniel Branden

“Our happiness springs mainly from moderate troubles, which afford the mind a healthful stimulus, and are followed by a reaction which produces a cheerful flow of spirits.” -E. Wigglesworth

“Happiness is essentially a state of going somewhere, wholeheartedly, one-directionally, without regret or reservation.” -William H. Sheldon

“We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about.” -Charles Kingsley

“Tantra is the science of contacting souls, of going to the deepest core of the other. Tantra is one of the most important secrets ever discovered. But it is very delicate because it is the greatest art. To create a communion with the energy of the other, a dancing communion is the greatest and most difficult art to learn.” ~Osho

“If you remain aware you will come to know that sex is not just sex. Sex is the outermost layer, deep inside is the love, and even deeper is prayer, and deepest is God himself. Sex can become a cosmic experience. Then it is Tantra.” ~Osho

“Tantra is one of the greatest treasures that is – lying there, unused. The day humanity uses it, the earth will become a glow with a new love. This very earth can be paradise. It is impossible if you depend on nature. It is very, very possible if you depend on Tantra.” ~Osho

“In meditation, if two meditators share their energies, love is a constant phenomenon. It does not change. It takes the quality of eternity. It becomes divine. The meeting of love and meditation is the greatest experience of life.” ~Osho

“Love is not sex. Sex can happen in love, it can be a part, integral part to it, but sex itself is not love it is a substitute. You are trying to avoid love through sex. You are giving yourself a feeling that you are in love, and you are not moving into love. Sex is just like borrowed knowledge: giving a feeling of knowing without knowing; giving a feeling of love and loving without loving.” ~Osho

“When you become the deepest valley of reception, then the highest peaks of consciousness can be given to you. Only a valley can receive a peak. A disciple should be absolutely feminine, receptive, like a womb. Only then such a phenomenon happens as is going to happen in this song.” ~Osho

“The urge of the human body, like the animal body, to reproduce is very strong. Even if the Divine consciousness and love in the human heart is obscured, the physical urge driven by the reptile brain continues. The physical orgasm, especially in the male body, is a tremendous drive that exists so that the bodies shall make sure that the human race survives. Even if human beings intuitively know that there is something more to human sexuality, they seem to either try to reach deep happiness through extreme physical sexuality or to attain true bliss by taking away sexuality; as in many spiritual circumstances where sex is considered or experienced as a hindering to a Godly or Divine life. This is because sexuality has become more and more bodily and male oriented. Kundalini awakening that unfolds Divine consciousness through sublimation of the sexual energy is very unusual today. Where it happens, in true heart chakra connected love relations, it happens slowly and beautifully.” ~Osho

“The only real reason to exist as a human is to manifest the Divine in human shape. All resources the human being administers or may administer are therefore means in this process, including the human body itself. Whatever else that the human being is focusing on creates sufferings. All human beings are born with the inner yearning of being conscious creators in manifesting the Divine in human shape. Thus every child, every human being, needs to meet with mirrors within their social environment that nurture this yearning.” ~Osho

“The world is a looking glass. It gives back to every man a true reflection of his own thoughts. Rule your mind or it will rule you.” ~Buddha

“Through contradictions you destroy your clinging to the mind and thinking. Through silence you destroy the world of your feeling. When both these layers are gone, you are as existence wanted you to be, in your purity, in your individuality. You have come home.” ~ Osho

“Immature love says, “I love because I need you” and mature love says “I need you because I love you” ~Unknown

“The sun shines down, and its image reflects in a thousand different pots filled with water. The reflections are many, but they are each reflecting the same sun. Similarly, when we come to know who we truly are, we will see ourselves in all people.” ~Ammachi

“Love is our true essence. Love has no limitations of caste, religion, race, or nationality. We are all beads strung together on the same thread of love. To awaken this unity–and to spread to others the love that is our inherent nature–is the true goal of human life.” ~Ammachi

“The highest phenomenon is when love is a state and not a relationship. Not that you are in love, but that you are love. Then love reaches to the highest peak possible, and at that peak it becomes prayer, at that peak it is meditation, at that peak it touches the feet of God. It becomes a dialogue with the whole of existence. Then you are in dance, and the whole of existence is the partner – the trees and the stars and the mountains.” ~Osho

“You have to remember that freedom is the highest value,

and if love is not giving you freedom then it is not love.” ~Osho

“Love is the only thing you get more of by giving it away” ~T. Wilson

“Nothing matters so much that we should throw ourselves into a state of panic about it. No happening is so important that we should let ourselves be exiled from inner peace and mental calm for its sake.” ~ Paul Brunton

“Always remember deep in your heart that all is well and everything is unfolding as it should. There are no mistakes anywhere, at any time. What appears to be wrong is simply your own false imagination. That’s all. But we live in a universe of Brahman, of Absolute Reality, self -contained Consciousness, where there’s perfection, perfect life, perfect bliss, perfect being. That perfection knows nothing about wrong and right, good and bad, happy and sad. It knows only itself as Perfection. And you are That.” ~Robert Adams

“The moment you start seeing life as non-serious, a playfulness, all the burden on your heart disappears. All the fear of death, of life, of love – everything disappears. One starts living with a very light weight or almost no weight. So weightless one becomes, one can fly in the open sky.” ~Osho

“Love and hate are not real opposites, but love and fear are real opposites. Hate can become love very easily: it is really love standing upside-down. It is not very far from love, it is love energy in a disturbed state. The energy can be calmed, stilled. It is only a question of rearranging the energy, and hate can become love. And we know – it happens every day in life – love can become hate, hate can become love. You hate the same person and you love the same person. One moment you hate, another moment you love. So love and hate are two sides of the same coin, they are not real opposites.”~Osho

“Unless you become a buddha you have not lived at all, because you will not know the great poetry of life, the great music of existence. You will not know the celestial celebration that goes on and on, you will not know the dance of the stars. This bliss is for you! All these flowers, all these songs and all these stars are for you. You are entitled to miracles.” ~Osho

“My understanding is that whatsoever is given to you is precious. If it was not so, existence would not have given it to you.” ~Osho

“Through intense deep meditation you reach a state that is beyond thought, beyond change, beyond imagination, beyond differences and duality. Once you can stay in that state for a while and come out of it without losing any of it, then the inner divine love will begin to pour through you. You will not see people as different, separate individuals. You will see your own Self in everyone around you. Then the flow of love from within you will be constant and unbroken.” ~Swami Muktananda

“I would like to give you two things: Roots into this earth and wings into the heaven. Meditation is the earth, it is here and now; the very moment you can spread your roots, do it. And once roots are there, your wings will reach the highest sky possible. Compassion is the sky, meditation is the earth, and when meditation and compassion meet, a Buddha is born.” ~ Osho

“God is there only if you surrender. Surrender makes anything God. Surrender gives you the eyes, and everything that is brought to these eyes becomes Divine.” ~Osho

“When you demand nothing of the world, nor of God, when you want nothing, seek nothing, expect nothing, then the Supreme State will come to you uninvited and unexpected.” ~ Nisargadatta Maharaj

“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” ~Charles Darwin

“Love is the only thing you get more of by giving it away” ~ T. Wilson

“We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.” ~ Plato (427 -347 BC)

“In truth, you are spirit. The body has been projected by the mind, which itself originates from Spirit.” ~Ramana Maharshi

“One who is connected to the Energy Stream is more powerful than a million who are not. And two who are harmoniously focused and connected to the Energy Stream brings about a co-creative endeavor that cannot be matched by anything else in all of the Universe.” ~Abraham Hicks

“In a single moment, in one stroke, you can become enlightened. It is not a gradual process, because enlightenment is not something that you have to invent. It is something that you have to discover. It is already there. It is not something that you have to manufacture. If you have to manufacture it, of course, it will take time; but it is already there. Close your eyes and see it there. Be silent and have a taste of it. Your very nature is what I call enlightenment. Enlightenment is not something alien, outside you. It is not somewhere else in time and space. It is you, your very core.” ~Osho

“You must all have a firm determination. Even if total destruction comes or any great calamity comes, you must not be shaken from your determination. If there is a great flood, if fire breaks out – in any calamity – you must be so brave and determined that you would jump into fire or water. You must inspire others also to become brave and courageous. Only he who has courage is a true living being. One who has no courage is like a dead man, even though he lives.

We have tightened our belts and taken a firm determination to do good to the world and uplift humanity. You must stick to this resolve with your full energy. Calamities will fall not just on one country but on the whole universe; the whole universe is in danger. The terrible times which are approaching will engulf the whole world; the whole universe will be enveloped in this destruction. We must consider not only ourselves but also the whole of the universe. We can achieve anything in this world when we are hard working and industrious. Because you must consider the whole universe, we should say “Jai Vishwa!” instead of “Jai Hind!” “Jai Hind” means “Victory to India” – “Jai Vishwa!” means “Victory to the whole Universe!” ~Babaji

“Understand the obstructions you are putting in the way of love, freedom, and happiness and they will drop. Turn on the light of awareness and the darkness will disappear. Happiness is not something you acquire; love is not something you produce; love is not something you have; love is something that has you.” ~Anthony de Mello

“The sun, with all those planets revolving around it and dependant on it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the Universe to do.” -Galileo Galilei

“Cease trying to work everything out with your minds, it will get you nowhere. Live instead by intuition and inspiration, let your whole life become a revelation.” ~Eileen Caddy

“Consciousness has two possibilities: In the first it can become a bright light in you, so bright that even the sun will look pale compared to it. Buddha says it can be like 1000 suns have risen suddenly, and when you look it it, with no mind, all you see is eternal light. It is all joy, pure, uncontaminated, unpolluted. It is simple bliss, innocent. It is wonder. Its majesty is indescribable, it’s beauty inexpressible and it’s benediction inexhaustible. The other possibility is you can become self-conscious, and then you fall. Then you become a separate entity from the world. Then you become an island, defined, well-defined. Then you are confined because all definitions confine. You are in a prison cell, and the prison cell is dark, utterly dark. There’s no light, no possibility of light, and the prison cell paralyzes you. Self-consciousness becomes a bondage and consciousness becomes freedom. So drop the self and be conscious. That is the whole message of all the Buddhas of all the ages, past, present, and future.” -Osho

“I want it clearly understood that I’m totally confused.” ~Ashleigh Brilliant

“By doing just a little every day, I can gradually let the task completely overwhelm me.” ~Ashleigh Brilliant

“All I want is a warm bed, a kind word and unlimited power.” ~Ashleigh Brilliant

“Falling in love you remain a child; rising in love you mature.

By and by love becomes not a relationship, it becomes a state of your being. Not that you are in love – now you are love.” ~Osho

“Be not bewildered. Do not strain yourself to understand all my mysteries at once. Accept each one as it comes and fit it into the jigsaw puzzle, knowing that bit by bit each piece will be shown to you and will fit into place perfectly. Be surprised at nothing. Let peace and stillness flood through you and envelop you completely in its cloak. Put on the whole armour of love – and yet feel, feel very deeply. Let tears flow, washing away impurities until you feel clean within and clean without. Become like an empty vessel ready to be filled with my nectar.” ~Eileen Caddy

“Help each other. Love everyone. Every leaf. Every ray of light. Forgive. The only way to be happy is to love. Unless you love, your life will flash by.” ~Tree of Life (DVD)

“And to me, seriousness is a sickness; and the sense of humor makes you more human, more humble. The sense of humor – according to me – is one of the most essential parts of religiousness.” Osho

“Find God. This is your mission. You are the center of the Universe. Your center is God, Consciousness, Absolute Reality, Perfection, Brahman. This is the only piece that exists. You have absolutely nothing to give up, nothing to surrender, nothing to let go of. You are already liberated. How can you believe that you have to let go of something that never existed. It’s just Maya. You think that you have to let go of your attachments, your fears, your worries, your thoughts. How can the Eternal Self have attachments? It is always pure, untainted and unattached. It is always opening, experiencing presence.

If you think you have surrender all your fears, depressions, anxieties, worries…all these things that have been bothering you? Surrender to whom? Those things are not even yours. They do not belong to you. You do not have to give them up. You are pure Reality. You are the imperishable Self. You were never born, you never did prevail, and you’ll never die. You are the One. The all pervading One. You have absolutely nothing to give up. You never had anything to begin with. It’s actually egotistical to believe you have something to give up. There’s nothing you have to surrender. Its only the ego that believes that something has to be surrendered, that there’s work to do. The only work is to just drop into what is.” ~Robert Adams

“There is no more a greater challenge in life than love. If you love someone, you are in a tremendous turmoil. Love is not all roses as your poets have said…it is more thorny than you can imagine. Love is the greatest danger in life. If you really want to grow accept the greatest danger and move into it.” ~Osho

After you have rejected what was to be rejected, and accepted what was to be accepted,

then only acceptance remains hollow. At that end you’ll say, ‘What’s this acceptance for, even? I don’t need it.” Then you’ll arrive at ‘Who am I?’ – Swami Amar Jyoti

“There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it’s going to be a butterfly.” ~ Buckminster Fuller

“Do you know that if you took all the space

in between all the particles in your body out,

there wouldn’t be enough matter left

to fit on a pinhead. You are mostly space!

If you took that matter on that pinhead,

that matter is not matter at all, its energy.

The whole Universe is energy….

a huge sea of energy.” ~Chris Bourne

Gather all courage and take a jump.

Even the dewdrop slipping from a lotus leaf trembles

for a moment, tries to hang on a little more,

because he can see the ocean…

once he has fallen from the lotus leaf he is gone.

Yes, in a way you will not be; just as a dewdrop

dissolves into the ocean, you will be gone.

But it is not a loss. You will be oceanic.

And all other oceans are limited.

The ocean of existence is unlimited. ~Osho

“Yoga means to be evolving in the dimension where there is no object, and only consciousness remains. When you are conscious of something you’re not conscious of being conscious.” ~Osho

“Give love and unconditional acceptance to those you encounter, and notice what happens.” ~ Wayne Dyer

“Life’s problems may be complicated, yet the answers are always very simple.” ~Unknown

“If you really want to create peace on the earth,

create peace in your heart, in your being.

That is the right place to begin with…and then spread

and radiate peace and love. If more and more people

become peaceful, joyous, dance, sing and say hallelujah from their

very innermost core, it will become impossible for

these few mad people to create a war.” ~ Osho

“You must have faith. Everything depends on faith.” ~Babaji

“If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, ‘thank you,’ that would suffice.” ~ Meister Eckhart

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” ~ Winston Churchill

“If only people who worry about their liabilities would think about the riches they do possess, they would stop worrying. Would you sell both your eyes for a million dollars… or your two legs… or your hearing? Add up what you do have, and you’ll find that you won’t sell them for all the gold in the world. The best things in life are yours, if you can appreciate yourself” – Dale Carnegie

“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.” – Buddha

“In daily we must see that it is not happiness that makes us grateful, but gratefulness that makes us happy.” – David Steindl-Rast

“When we give of our attention, we give of our soul. One moment of pure attention is worth a pound of gold.” – Lisa Guyman

“I thank God for my handicaps for, through them, I have found myself, my work, and my God.” ~ Helen Keller

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” ~ Melody Beattie

“Faith is a state of openness or trust. To have faith is like when you trust yourself to the water. You don’t grab hold of the water when you swim, because if you do you will become stiff and tight in the water, and sink. You have to relax, and the attitude of faith is the very opposite of clinging, and holding on. In other words, a person who is fanatic in matters of religion, and clings to certain ideas about the nature of God and the universe becomes a person who has no faith at all. Instead they are holding tight. But the attitude of faith is to let go, and become open to truth, whatever it might turn out to be.” – Alan Watts

“When I look inside and see that I am nothing, that is wisdom.

When I look outside and see that I am everything, that is love.

And between these two, my life turns.” – Nisargadatta Maharaj

“There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved.” ~George Sand

“Do not respond to anger. Where there is no Love, do not go.

Your purpose is to transmit the teachings, not to convince,

not to expect that all will listen, understand, or be helped.

Remember, you are serving unconditionally, without expectation. ~Babaji

“Close your eyes and see it there. Be silent and have a taste of it. Your very nature is what I call enlightenment. Enlightenment is not something alien, outside you. It is not somewhere else in time and space. It is you, your very core.” ~Osho

“You are neither consciousness nor its content. You are the timeless source…the supreme reality. Trust that.” -Nisargadatta

“Don’t rely on the mind for liberation…just have faith and act on it. You are the sum cause of the entire universe.” ~Nisargadatta

“Feel ecstatic that there is no end to life, that when you have reached on one peak, suddenly another peak starts giving you challenges, a higher one, a more arduous climb, a more dangerous reach. And when you will have reached the other peak, another peak; peaks upon peaks. It is an eternal Himalayas of life.” ~Osho

“You are born with a tremendous possibility of intelligence.

You are born with a light within you. Listen to the still, small voice within, and that will guide you. Nobody else can guide you, nobody else can become a model for your life, because you are unique.

Nobody has there ever been who was exactly like you,

and nobody is ever going to be there again who will be exactly like you.

This is your glory, your grandeur–that you are utterly irreplaceable,

that you are just yourself and nobody else.” ~Osho

“The body is no-thing. It is made out of food. Understand? The body is just food for another body. Sustenance. What is real is the real you. The higher Self. That which exists without a body, without food.

Do not be concerned about the body. Do not worship the body. It is temporary. Fragile. Vulnerable to disease, old age, and death. Even Babaji must abandon the body. Understand? This is my message. Do not be attached to the body. It will bring much grief. Be aware of the higher self. Be alert to the higher self. Take care of the body. Feed it properly. Exercise it properly. But do not be unduly worried or enamored of it.” ~Babaji

“It’s unbelievable how much you don’t know about the game you’ve been playing your whole life.” ~Mickey Mantle

“Through contradictions I destroy your clinging to the mind and thinking. Through silence I destroy the world of your feeling. And when both these layers are gone, you are as existence wanted you to be, in your purity, in your individuality. You have come home.” Osho

“You are the Supreme Being, and yet thinking yourself

to be separate from it, you strive to become united with it.

What is stranger than this?” ~Ramana

“I am no-where but I am every-where instantly. I am here to give. Take all that you need. Change is difficult. I feel your burden. The body is not perfect and will always have needs. If you are on the High Path, living in Truth, Simplicity, Love, and Service. If you are becoming an independent thinker. Then fear not. Change is inevitable. Change is the Law of the Universe. But you will get through this. I am always with you.” ~Babaji

“Do not respond to anger. Where there is no Love, do not go.

Your purpose is to transmit the teachings, not to convince,

not to expect that all will listen, understand, or be helped.

Remember, you are serving unconditionally, without expectation.” ~Babaji

“As long as we hold on to blame, we cannot forgive. As long as we do not forgive, we cannot love. Blame is an invention of the wounded ego. Love knows no blame only compassion. Blaming holds you in the energy of the duality, of victim and abuser. Forgiving is a direct way of reclaiming your power and free yourself to love beyond judgement.”~ Grace Elohim

“The saddest summary of life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have.” ~ Unknown

Comes The Dawn

Author: Veronica A. Shoffstall

After a while you learn the subtle difference

Between holding a hand and chaining a soul,

And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning

And company doesn’t mean security,

And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts

And presents aren’t promises,

And you begin to accept your defeats

With your head up and your eyes open

With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child,

And you learn to build all your roads on today,

Because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans,

And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

After a while you learn

That even sunshine burns if you get too much.

So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,

Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure…

That you really are strong,

And you really do have worth.

And you learn and learn…

With every goodbye you learn.

“The choiceless truth of who you are is revealed to be permanently here permeating everything. Not a thing and not separate from anything.” ~ Gangaji

“When we recognize that nothing has to go right for us to be happy,

and that people don’t have to behave for us to love them,

our walk home can become surprisingly simple.” —Hugh Prather

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” ~ 1 Corinthians 13

“If you could only keep quiet, clear of memories and expectations, you would be able to discern the beautiful pattern of events. It is your restlessness that causes chaos.” ~Nisargadatta Maharaj

“The essence of saintliness is total acceptance of the

present moment, harmony with things as they happen.

A saint does not want things to be different from what they are;

he knows that, considering all factors, they are unavoidable.

He is friendly with the inevitable and, therefore, does not suffer.

Pain he may know, but it does not shatter him.

If he can, he does the needful to restore the lost balance –

or lets things take their course.” ~ Nisargadatta Maharaj

Stop imagining yourself being or doing this or that

and the realization that you are the source and heart

of all will dawn on you.- Nisargadatta Maharaj

God’s grace consists in the fact that He shines in the heart of every one as the Self;

that power of grace does not exclude any one, whether good or otherwise. ~Ramana

Being himself exactly the Supreme Being, but thinking himself to be separate from Him, (man) strives to become united to Him; what is stranger than this? ~Ramana

Happiness is the feeling you’re feeling when you want to keep feeling it. ~Source unknown

You are what all happenings happen in.

What happens must happen so remain

unaffected as peace. Be peaceful and

this peace will spread. What rises from

peace is peace and what rises from

confusion is confusion. So be peace and

give this to the universe, it is all you

should do. Even thinking “I am peace”

disturbs this peace, so just be quiet,

be as you are.- Papaji

“Your task is not to seek for love,

but merely to seek and find

all the barriers within yourself

that you have built against it.” ~Rumi

“Love without courage and wisdom is sentimentality, as with the ordinary church member. Courage without love and wisdom is foolhardiness, as with the ordinary soldier. Wisdom without love and courage is cowardice, as with the ordinary intellectual. But the one who has love, courage, and wisdom moves the world.” -Ammon Hennacy (Catholic activist, 1893-1970)

“Non-possessiveness is basically trust in existence. There is no need to possess, because the whole is already ours.” ~Osho

“You were born with potential.

You were born with goodness and trust.

You were born with ideals and dreams.

You were born with greatness.

You were born with wings.

You are not meant for crawling, so don’t!

You have wings, learn to use them and fly!” ~Rumi

There are two types of creators in the world. One type of creator works with objects – a poet, a painter, they work with objects, they create things. The other type of creator, the mystic, creates himself. He doesn’t work with objects, he works with the subject; he works on himself, his own being. And he is the real creator, the real poet, because he makes himself into a masterpiece. ~Osho

You are carrying a masterpiece hidden within you, but you are standing in the way. Just move aside, then the masterpiece will be revealed. Everyone is a masterpiece, because God never gives birth to anything less than that. Everyone carries that masterpiece hidden for many lives, not knowing who they are and just trying on the surface to become someone. ~Osho

Buddhist Wisdom Quotes

A collection of sayings, quotes and wisdom of Buddhist or Zen philosophy.

On life’s journey

Faith is nourishment,

Virtuous deeds are a shelter,

Wisdom is the light by day and

Right mindfulness is the protection by night.

If a man lives a pure life nothing can destroy him;

If he has conquered greed nothing can limit his freedom.

Buddha

Believe nothing on the faith of traditions,

even though they have been held in honor

for many generations and in diverse places.

Do not believe a thing because many people speak of it.

Do not believe on the faith of the sages of the past.

Do not believe what you yourself have imagined,

persuading yourself that a God inspires you.

Believe nothing on the sole authority of your masters and priests.

After examination, believe what you yourself have tested

and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.

Buddha

One of his students asked Buddha, “Are you the messiah?”

“No”, answered Buddha.

“Then are you a healer?”

“No”, Buddha replied.

“Then are you a teacher?” the student persisted.

“No, I am not a teacher.”

“Then what are you?” asked the student, exasperated.

“I am awake”, Buddha replied.

Live in Joy

Live in Joy, In love,

Even among those who hate.

Live in joy, In health,

Even among the afflicted.

Live in joy, In peace,

Even among the troubled.

Look within. Be still.

Free from fear and attachment,

Know the sweet joy of living in the way.

~

There is no fire like greed,

No crime like hatred,

No sorrow like separation,

No sickness like hunger of heart,

And no joy like the joy of freedom.

Health, contentment and trust

Are your greatest possessions,

And freedom your greatest joy.

Look within. Be still.

Free from fear and attachment,

Know the sweet joy of living in the way.

from the Dhammapada, Words of the Buddha

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.

If you want to be happy, practice compassion

The Dalai Lama

Be a lamp unto Yourself

As the Buddha was dying,

Ananda asked

who would be their teacher after death.

He replied to his disciple…

“Be lamps unto yourselves.

Be refuges unto yourselves.

Take yourself no external refuge.

Hold fast to the truth as a lamp.

Hold fast to the truth as a refuge.

Look not for a refuge in anyone besides yourselves.

And those, Ananda, who either now or after I am dead,

Shall be a lamp unto themselves,

Shall betake themselves as no external refuge,

But holding fast to the truth as their lamp,

Holding fast to the truth as their refuge,

Shall not look for refuge to anyone else besides themselves,

It is they who shall reach to the very topmost height;

But they must be anxious to learn.”

Quoted in Joseph Goldstein, The Experience of Insight

As human beings we all want to be happy and free from misery.

We have learned that the key to happiness is inner peace.

The greatest obstacles to inner peace are disturbing emotions such as

anger and attachment, fear and suspicion,

while love and compassion, a sense of universal responsibility

are the sources of peace and happiness.

Dalai Lama

Fill your mind with compassion.

Buddha

Be awake

Love yourself and be awake –

today, tomorrow, always.

First establish yourself in the way,

then teach others,

and so defeat sorrow.

To straighten the crooked

you must first do a harder thing –

straighten yourself.

You are the only master. Who else?

Subdue yourself,

and discover your master.

The whole purpose of religion

is to facilitate love and compassion, patience,

tolerance, humility, forgiveness.

Dalai Lama

We are what we think.

All that we are arises with our thoughts.

With our thoughts, we make our world.

Buddha

The Four Reliances

First, rely on the spirit and meaning of the teachings,

not on the words;

Second, rely on the teachings,

not on the personality of the teacher;

Third, rely on real wisdom,

not superficial interpretation;

And fourth, rely on the essence of your pure Wisdom Mind,

not on judgmental perceptions.

Traditional Buddhist teaching

The Fragrance of the Rose

The disciples were absorbed in a discussion of Lao-tzu’s dictum:

“Those who know, do not say;

Those who say, do not know.”

When the master entered,

they asked him what the words meant.

Said the master, “Which of you knows the fragrance of a rose?”

All of them indicated that they knew.

Then he said, “Put it into words.”

All of them were silent.

“Whether one believes in a religion or not, and whether one believes in rebirth or not,

there isn’t anyone who doesn’t appreciate kindness and compassion.” ~Dalai Lama

Practice for the New Millennium by the Dalai Lama

The Practice:

1. Spend 5 minutes at the beginning of each day remembering

we all want the same things (to be happy and be loved)

and we are all connected to one another.

2. Spend 5 minutes breathing in, cherishing yourself; and, breathing out

cherishing others. If you think about people you have difficulty cherishing,

extend your cherishing to them anyway.

3. During the day extend that attitude to everyone you meet.

Practice cherishing the “simplest” person (clerks, attendants, etc)

or people you dislike.

4. Continue this practice no matter what happens or what anyone does to you.

These thoughts are very simple, inspiring and helpful.

The practice of cherishing can be taken very deeply if done wordlessly,

allowing yourself to feel the love and appreciation that

already exists in your heart.

Below is all Nisargadatta maharaj quotes……..

“All that a guru can tell you is: ‘My dear, you are quite mistaken about yourself. You are not the person you take yourself to be.’ ~ Nisargadatta

“There is nothing to practice. To know yourself, be yourself. To be yourself, stop imagining yourself to be this or that. Just be. Let your true nature emerge. Don’t disturb your mind with seeking.” ~Nisargadatta Maharaj

“When the mind is kept away from its preoccupation, it becomes quiet.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Time is in the mind, space is in the mind. The law of cause and effect is also a way of thinking. In reality all is here and now and all is one. Multiplicity and diversity are in the mind only.” ~ Nisargadatta

“The mind craves for formulations and definitions, always eager to squeeze reality into a verbal shape.” ~ Nisargadatta

“A quiet mind is all you need. All else will happen rightly, once your mind is quiet. As the sun on rising makes the world active, so does self-awareness affect changes in the mind. In the light of calm and steady self-awareness inner energies wake up and work miracles without effort on your part.” ~ Nisargadatta

“The mind covers up reality, without knowing it. To know the nature of the mind, you need intelligence, the capacity to look at the mind in silent and dispassionate awareness.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Awareness is ever there. It need not be realized. Open the shutter of the mind, and it will be flooded with light.” ~ Nisargadatta

“There is nothing to practice. To know yourself, be yourself. To be yourself, stop imagining yourself to be this or that. Just be. Let your true nature emerge. Don’t disturb your mind with seeking.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Look at your mind dispassionately; this is enough to calm it. When it is quiet, you can go beyond it. Do not keep it busy all the time. Stop it – and just be. If you give it a rest, it will settle down and recover its purity and strength. Constant thinking makes it decay.” ~ Nisargadatta

“The unchangeable can only be realized in silence. Once realised, it will deeply affect the changeable, itself remaining unaffected.” ~ Nisargadatta

“This attitude of silent observation is the very foundation of yoga. You see the picture, but you are not the picture.” ~ Nisargadatta

“To locate a thing you need space, to place an event you need time; but the timeless and spaceless defies handling. It makes everything perceivable, yet itself is beyond perception. The mind cannot know what is beyond the mind, but the mind is known by what is beyond it.” ~ Nisargadatta

“You are not in the body, the body is in you! The mind is in you. They happen to you. They are there because you find them interesting.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Put your awareness to work, not your mind. The mind is not the right instrument for this task. The timeless can be reached only by the timeless. Your body and your mind are born subject to time; only awareness is timeless, even in the now.” ~ Nisargadatta

“To me nothing ever happens. There is something changeless, motionless, immovable, rock-like, unassailable; a solid mass of pure being-consciousness-bliss. I am never out of it. Nothing can take me out of it, no torture, no calamity.” ~ Nisargadatta

“We are the creators and creatures of each other, causing and bearing each other’s burden.” ~ Nisargadatta

“I find that somehow, by shifting the focus of attention, I become the very thing I look at, and experience the kind of consciousness it has; I become the inner witness of the thing. I call this capacity of entering other focal points of consciousness, love; you may give it any name you like. ” ~ Nisargadatta

“Love says “I am everything”. Wisdom says “I am nothing”. Between the two, my life flows. Since at any point of time and space I can be both the subject and the object of experience, I express it by saying that I am both, and neither, and beyond both.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Unless you make tremendous efforts, you will not be convinced that effort will take you nowhere. The self is so self-confident that unless it is totally discouraged it will not give up. Mere verbal conviction is not enough. Hard facts alone can show the absolute nothingness of the self-image.” ~ Nisargadatta

“A quiet mind is all you need. All else will happen rightly, once your mind is quiet. As the sun on rising makes the world active, so does self-awareness affect changes in the mind. In the light of calm and steady self-awareness, inner energies wake up and work miracles without any effort on your part.” ~ Nisargadatta

“The world is like a sheet of paper on which something is typed. The reading and the meaning will vary with the reader, but the paper is the common factor, always present, rarely perceived. “I find that somehow, by shifting the focus of attention, I become the very

thing I look at, and experience the kind of consciousness it has; I become

the inner witness of the thing. I call this capacity of entering other

focal points of consciousness, love; you may give it any name you like.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Love says “I am everything”. Wisdom says “I am nothing”. Between the two,

my life flows. Since at any point of time and space I can be both the

subject and the object of experience, I express it by saying that I am

both, and neither, and beyond both.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Unless you make tremendous efforts, you will not be convinced that

effort will take you nowhere. The self is so self-confident that

unless it is totally discouraged it will not give up. Mere verbal

conviction is not enough. Hard facts alone can show the absolute

“The consciousness in you and the consciousness in me, apparently two, really one, seek unity and that is love.” ~ Nisargadatta

“In people with devotion, even with limited intellect,

the intellect is not making mischief, as it is here.

This is the place where the intellect gets annihilated.” ~ Nisargadatta

“There was a house, and in the house there was a person; now the

person is gone and the house is demolished. The sum total is,

whatever experiences you have, whether for a day or for years, it is

all illusion. The experiences begin with knowingness.” ~ Nisargadatta

“What is the most ingrained habit you have? It is to say “I Am’. This

is the root habit. Words and experiences are unworthy of you. This

habit of experiencing will not go until you realize that all this

domain of the five elements, are unreal, This “I Amness” is itself unreal.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Start with the body. From the body you get the knowledge of `I

am’. In this process you become more and more subtle. When you are in

a position to witness the knowledge `I am’, you have reach the

highest. In this way you must try to understand, and the seeds of

knowledge will sprout in you.” ~ Nisargadatta

“When you come to the end of material world-knowledge, at that stage

you transcend the observer and the observed. That means that you are in a true state of being-ness. Thereafter, you enter the state of

transcending being-ness, where the identities of the observer and

observed disappear.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Suppose somebody abuses you and you find out who it is. Is it the

body? It is not the body. Then what could it be? Finally you come to

the conclusion that it is spontaneously happening out of whatever

that body is. You will not attribute it to any individual. When your

individuality is dissolved, you will not see individuals anywhere, it

is just a functioning in consciousness. If it clicks in you, it is

very easy to understand. If it does not, it is most difficult. It is

very profound and very simple, if understood right. What I am saying

is not the general run of common spiritual knowledge.” ~ Nisargadatta

“When you reach a state when body is transcended, mind is transcended and consciousness is also transcended; from then on all is merely happening out of consciousness, which is the outcome of the body, and there is no authority or doer-ship. When a sound is emanating out of a body, it is not that somebody is talking, it is just words emanating, just happening, not doing.” ~ Nisargadatta

“If you understand the basis thoroughly, it will lead you very far, deep into spirituality.” ~ Nisargadatta

“The Absolute alone prevails. There is nothing but the Absolute. The

un-manifest manifested itself, that manifest state is Guru and it is universal.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Who is the one who recognizes this body-mind? This `I Am-ness’ which recognizes the body-mind is without name and form, it is already there.” ~ Nisargadatta

“All knowledge is like the son of a barren woman.

Presently there are only beingness and functioning.

The individuality and personality are thrown overboard.

There is no personality, so there is no question of birth, life, or death.

What remains is only the consciousness without name or form.

The form needs a name, but when both are not there,

then the consciousness remains only for so long as the body is there,

but without any individuality.” ~ Nisargadatta

“The body is of as much use now as it was prior to birth and after death.

How do you know me? You know me only the acquisition of body form, name and form. Do you really see me as I am? I doubt it.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Now the conclusion is that the unborn is enjoying the birth-principle.

That principle that is born took so much time to understand this,

and is it is the unborn only which prevails. It took so much time for the Self to understand the Self. We have tied around our necks so many concepts; death, this “I AM”,etc.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Similarly, Concepts, of good and evil are unnecessary.

We have developed these concepts and are caught in them.

How does one think about Self-knowledge?

Do you abide in the Self or in the process do you think of something else as the Self? ” ~ Nisargadatta

“You are wrapped up and lost in your concepts.

For instance, you have a concept about friendship.

How long do you keep your friends? You keep them so long as they are useful to you. So long as a friend is of some benefit to you,

that’s how long you would like to keep that friendship.

Now, how can I actually derive benefit out of a friend?

I, as an individual, am not there, so how can there be a question of benefit?

Benefit to whom? How can there be a question of friendship at all.

Anybody, who comes here can sit. I will allow him to sit for some time,

but later on I will say, “You may leave,” Why?

Because I have no intention or purpose of having any friendship with that person.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Ordinarily, there is some purpose for deriving certain benefits out of an association with another. When you meet someone in friendship, there may be some intention to serve one another. But I have no friends. Even this “I Amness” will not remain as my friend. I am not able to talk any longer—the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Previously I used to welcome people but now I am not in a position to welcome them. They come, they sit and they go by themselves. I cannot even extend my hospitality. All my knowledge has gone into liquidation. I am unconcerned.” ~ Nisargadatta

“I am nobody and nothing. This body has no meaning. I am only a mirror in which you can perceive yourself. I am like fire: don’t stay too far away or you will not get the warmth. But don’t get too near or you may burn yourself. Learn the right distance.” ~ Nisargadatta

“To devotees I give Abhaya Dhan, the blessings of my protection, by which you will always be protected. So you should be fearless. I am responsible for you and your liberation. My protection never abandons you, not even for a second!” ~ Nisargadatta

“Whosoever comes to me with love, then I will show him/her love beyond anything imaginable.” ~ Nisargadatta

“I have come to give, only to give. Are you ready to receive? I give everything but few ask for what I have really come to give.” ~ Nisargadatta

“If you are at peace, I am in peace. If you are troubled, I am troubled. If you have problems, I have problems. There will always be hills and mountains to overcome on the way to God. Do not be disturbed by the mountain falling down. It is the duty of the mountain to fall down and it is the duty of the soldiers to move the mountain.” ~ Nisargadatta

“You should seek harmony in everything that you do. I am harmony. Thank you for your love.” ~ Nisargadatta

“Do not fall back in your work, but go on. Karma yoga is your first duty.” – Babaji

“Work, which I want to accomplish, is to remove the misuse of nonviolence. People have become lifeless and their blood has become like water. You should be brave and courageous – afraid of nothing. You should not be afraid of being burned by fire or drowned by water. If you are brave and Courageous, nothing will harm you, not even the atomic bomb. You must be fearless for yourself and for all humanity. Humanity is making a grave mistake by misusing nonviolence. Time and again I have said this to you. You have come into the world to work. You must always be eager to work. The one who is idle is like a dead man. You have come to this world to live, not to die!” ~ Babaji

“I want a world of brave and courageous people. Indeed, those who work hard and are agnostics are more acceptable, for a time, than lazy spiritual hypocrites.!” ~ Babaji

“Many times I have told you that by karma yoga alone will I give you liberation.” ~ Babaji

“I want, and many times I have told you, that it is the best thing to live your life with courage and bravery. You must be always active and hardworking. I have told you this before also. I will give you liberation only through Karma, so you should not lag behind in your work. Be active and advance! You must always encourage Karma Yoga. You have to progress through Karma Yoga. Through Karma only, can all needs be fulfilled. We cannot make the world happy and peaceful without Karma Yoga (work). For the peace and happiness of the world, we have to practice Karma Yoga. Through Karma Yoga – working hard – you can bring peace, happiness, joy and contentment to the world. Idleness makes men slip backwards, lag behind. Karma is the highest and greatest thing.” ~ Babaji

“Every human being must promise with a true heart that he will cooperate with Babaji; He shall help him to be humane. This is the only service Sri Mahaprabhuji demands of you.” ~ Babaji

“Karma yoga is the highest form of yoga (mahayoga) and any advancement is done through karma alone. By karma yoga great things can be achieved. You can bring heaven down to earth. You can change the whole of creation.” – Babaji

“Those who are lazy, inactive are a burden to the earth.” ~ Babaji

Question: “When there is a nuclear war and a bomb lands, say in Bombay, all people, including devotees, will die. What do You mean by saving them through the mantra?”

Babaji answers: “The fear of death is born with man, though this is the only thing that he knows is certain to happen to him. Attachment to material things makes man cling to life. When you chant the Name of the Divine, when you are one with the divine, you accept death. While you are attached to life and afraid of death, you die with that fear and that weight clinging to you. If you have attained liberation you are free from death (you accept the inevitable). You die without fear and by remembering the Name of God, your soul leaves the body free of that fear and attachment. If you are reborn, your soul is still free from that fear. If you die in “unity”, you are free from rebirth, unless you will it.” – Babaji

“Every moment, in each breath, while eating, sleeping, and working, you should remember the Lord’s name.” ~ Babaji

“This Om Namah Shivaya is like nectar; feed everyone with this nectar. Sri Mahaprabhuji wishes that all words would disappear from this world, except for three – Om Namah Shivaya. This is the original mantra. When Primordial Energy first appeared, the first mantra that She uttered from Her holy mouth was Om Namah Shivaya” ~ Babaji

“This world is transitory; the Name of God is the true reality. Everything in this world is destructible, transient, and ephemeral. So you must all repeat God’s Name and sing kirtan and bhajans with devotion and concentration. Without this, how can you attain Enlightenment and make progress?” ~ Babaji

“In life, everything is action, Kriya, eating, drinking, coming and going. Everything is full of activity; every moment is full of action. It is the duty of every one to be active; to be lazy is like making yourself dirty.” ~ Babaji

“Whatever He is teaching you here; you must do at home, also. Babaji doesn’t teach the Kriya Yoga which makes a disciple to leave all action. Whatever He is teaching, He is teaching practically. He doesn’t want men to become like stones, without any activity, becoming idle. There are 300,000 nerves in out bodies; to give energy and consciousness to these nerves is the Kriya Yoga that Babaji teaches.” – Vishnu Dutt Shastriji

“The fact is that your daily routine work from morning till night is the real Kriya Yoga. The union of morning and evening (that is, the work of your whole day) is the real Kriya Yoga.

The union of that work which is started in the morning and finished in the evening is real Kriya Yoga. I don’t want to brainwash people; they have already been brain washed! Those who are doing the brain washing themselves, do not understand the meaning of Kriya and Yoga (union). There is nothing like Kriya Yoga. There is nothing in this world that is not Kriya Yoga. Perfection in work is the real Kriya Yoga.

Every action in this world, including eating and drinking is Kriya Yoga. The digestive process in your body is Kriya. The process of uniting any two or more things is Kriya Yoga.

Others are confusing the people of the world. Doing your own duty perfectly, ADVANCE! GO FORWARD! That is Kriya Yoga, that is Karma Yoga – by this means only can you make progress. Perfection in work is Kriya Yoga.

All the scientists now thriving in this world are Kriya Yogis. Concentrated and meditative people are all Kriya Yogis. There is no such separate thing as Kriya Yoga. People have been misled thousands and millions of people have been ensnared in this trap. Only that is Kriya, which brings peace and happiness and all kinds of benefits to people. To do good action is Kriya Yoga. Worship (puja) is also Kriya Yoga, worship of any deity is Kriya Yoga.

You must all do service to humanity, THAT is Kriya Yoga. The times now demand this of you in this world. In every way, in every manner possible, do good to others and make them happy – that is Kriya Yoga. To each individual and to every country, provide what they lack.” ~ Babaji

“Kirtan should come to you naturally and through your soul. When you sing, you and those who listen to the kirtan should enjoy it, it should be sung in harmony, with a slow rhythm. Put your soul into it and it will flow. Don’t sing kirtan as though you are competing with one another or fighting with each other, beating very fast rhythms – the melody should flow in all its sweetness” – Babaji

“The kirtan and bhajans, which we sing here, must be sung with such deep devotion and concentration that the Deity of whom you are singing must be invoked to appear before you.” ~ Babaji

TANTRA BY OSHO QUOTES

“Two lovers sitting by each other’s side, or two nothingnesses sitting together – only then the meeting is possible because barriers are broken, boundaries thrown away. The energy can move from here to there; there is no hindrance. And only in such a moment of deep love is orgasm possible.” ~Osho

“When two lovers are making love, and if they are both no-selves, nothingnesses, then orgasm happens. Then their body energy, their whole being, loses all identity; they are no more themselves – they have fallen into the abyss. But this can happen only for a moment: again they regain, again they start clinging. That’s why people become afraid in love also.” ~Osho

“In deep love people are afraid of becoming mad, or going to die – of what will happen. The abyss opens its mouth, the whole existence yawns, and you are suddenly there and you can fall into it. One becomes scared of love, then people remain satisfied with sex and they call their sex ”love.” ~Osho

“Love is not sex. Sex can happen in love, it can be a part, integral part to it, but sex itself is not love – it is a substitute. You are trying to avoid love through sex. You are giving yourself a feeling that you are in love, and you are not moving into love. Sex is just like borrowed knowledge: giving a feeling of knowing without knowing; giving a feeling of love and loving without loving.” ~Osho

“In love you are not, the other is also not: then only, suddenly, the two disappear. The same happens in Mahamudra. Mahamudra is a total orgasm with the whole existence.” ~Osho

“That’s why in Tantra – and Tilopa is a Tantra master – deep intercourse, orgasmic intercourse, between lovers is also called Mahamudra, and two lovers in a deep orgasmic state are pictured in tantric temples, in tantric books. That has become a symbol of the final orgasm.” ~Osho

“And this is the whole method of Tilopa, and the whole method of Tantra: WITHOUT MAKING AN EFFORT… because if you make an effort, the ego is strengthened. If you make an effort, YOU come in.” ~Osho

“So love is not an effort, you cannot make an effort to love. If you make an effort, there is no love. You flow into it, you don’t make an effort, you simply allow it to happen, you don’t MAKE an effort. It is not a doing, it is a happening: WITHOUT MAKING AN EFFORT…. And the same is the case with the total, the final: you don’t make an effort, you simply float with it… BUT REMAINING LOOSE AND NATURAL. This is the way, this is the very ground of Tantra.” ~Osho

“So how to transform your ignorance into wisdom? That is the only transformation – and you cannot force it: it happens when you are loose and natural.” ~Osho

“Tantra is the natural way: be loose and natural. It will be difficult because the old habits have to be broken. It is difficult because you will have to live in a society of hypocrites. It will be difficult because everywhere you will find a conflict with the hypocrites – but one has to go through it. It will be arduous because there are many investments in false, artificial pretensions. You may feel completely alone, but this will be only a passing phase. Soon others will start feeling your authenticity. And remember, even an authentic anger is better than a pretended smile, because at least it is authentic. And a man who cannot be authentically angry, cannot be authentic at all. At least he is authentic, true to his being. Whatsoever is happening, you can rely on him that it is true.

And this is my observation: that a true anger is beautiful and a false smile is ugly; and a true hate has its own beauty, just like true love – because beauty is concerned with truth. Neither is it concerned with hate, nor with love – beauty is of the true. Truth is beautiful in whatsoever form. A truly dead man is more beautiful than a falsely alive man, because at least the basic quality is there of being true.” ~Osho

“Remember this – that beauty of truth, authenticity. Become more authentic and you will have a flowering. And the more authentic you become, by and by you will feel many things are falling away – of their own accord. You never made any effort to do it; they are falling of their own accord. And once you know the knack of it, then you become more and more loose, more and more natural, authentic.” ~Osho

“The liberation is not very far away, it is just hidden behind you. Once you are authentic and the door is open – but you are such a liar, you are such a pretender, you are such a hypocrite, you are so deeply false; that’s why you feel that the liberation is very very far away. It is not! For an authentic being, liberation is just natural. It is as natural as anything.” ~Osho

A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.

If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say?

And why are you waiting?

Aim at heaven and you get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it’s the only thing that ever has.

Medicine is not only a science; it is also an art. It does not consist of compounding pills and plasters; it deals with the very processes of life, which must be understood before they may be guided.

Plato (427 -347 BC)

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.

An optimist is a person who sees a green light everywhere, while a pessimist sees only the red stoplight…The truly wise person is color-blind.

Until he extends his circle of compassion to include all living things, man will not himself find peace.

Seth (as channelled by Jane Roberts)

You cannot escape your own attitudes, for they will form the nature of what you see. Quite literally you see what you want to see; and you see your own thoughts and emotional attitudes materialized in physical form. If changes are to occur, they must be mental and psychic changes. These will be reflected in your environment. Negative, distrustful, fearful, or degrading attitudes toward anyone work against the self.

————————————————————————

Learning to some extent is passed on through the genes, biochemically, but this is a physical materialization of inner knowledge achieved and retained from past lives… The human being does not… erupt into existence at birth and laboriously then begin its first attempt to gain experience. If this were the case, you would still be back in the Stone Age.

————————————————————————

If desire for health leads instead to an emphasis upon symptoms to be overcome, you would be better off to avoid all thoughts of health or illness and concentrate in other directions, such as work. Such an emphasis can lead to a focus upon obstacles that stand in the way, and this reinforces the negative condition.

————————————————————————

True self-knowledge is indispensable for health or vitality. The recognition of the truth about the self simply means you must first discover what you think about yourself, subconsciously. If it is a good image, build upon it. If it is a poor one, recognize it as only the opinion you have held of yourself and not as an absolute state.

George Bernard Shaw

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Max Theon

Let no one deceive you. Your capacities, aspirations and conceptions prove that you are not formed for time, but for eternity.

Poem from the book The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying

Autobiography in Five Chapters

1) I walk down the street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk

I fall in.

I am lost… I am hopeless.

It isn’t my fault.

It takes forever to find a way out.

2) I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I pretend I don’t see it.

I fall in again.

I can’t believe I’m in the same place.

But it isn’t my fault.

It still takes a long time to get out.

3) I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I see it is there.

I still fall in… it’s a habit

My eyes are open

I know where I am

It is my fault.

I get out immediately.

4) I walk down the same street.

There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.

I walk around it.

5) I walk down another street.

The man who goes alone can start today; but he who travels with another must wait till that other is ready.

If a man does not keep pace with his companions perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured and far away.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.

So throw off the bowlines.

Sail away from the safe harbour.

Catch the trade winds in your sails.

Explore. Dream. Discover.

You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand. – Woodrow Wilson

SUSANNA NOVA INTERVIEWS

“How to have a cosmic orgasm? Life is sex and sex is life. So even to separate you and sex, thinking orgasm has anything to do with sex is also a limiting perspective. If you want to live as the cosmic orgasm that you are, this is a moment to moment thing.”~Susanna Nova

“Do you want the most practical step to take to experience a cosmic orgasm? It all starts with the wound, with that dark place inside of us that we haven’t taken care of and that we are therefore constantly living from. Living based in that struggle and that tension of trying to squash or push those things that we call negative, bad, or dark away. As long as we are doing that, we have this basic energy of struggle and tension. As long as we live in that, nothing can happen. Maybe we have glimpses of grace where we feel a cosmic orgasmic connection, but we won’t have the personal creative capacity to be co-creating that with the Universe, because we are using so much of our energy to keep these pains and these wounds in place. It’s about letting your wounds come up in life to be healed.” ~Susanna Nova

“Being sexual in bed is not separate from life. Until we can see and feel that everything we do, the way we get up in the morning, get out of bed, the way we touch and feel the vegetables when we are cooking, that everything we do is part of that cosmic sexual experience nothing can happen. We cannot just wake up, throw my clothes on, eat a hamburger, race off to work, and then have a cosmic orgasmic sexual experience. It doesn’t work that way. Imagine, I shove my face in some beers, mess around at work, flirt a little with the girls, and then get really angry in the car on my way back home at those fucking homeless people who are in the way of my BMW driving down the street. We cannot do that and go home and expect that we’re going to have a great sex life.” ~Susanna Nova

Buddhas Little Instruction Book

Each morning we are born again today. What we do today is what matters most.

Take time everyday to sit quietly and listen.

To awaken, sit calmly, letting each breath clear your mind and open your heart.

To meditate is to listen with a receptive heart.

An upright posture and a few relaxed breaths can make a great difference.

Stay centered, do not over stretch. Extend from your center, return to your center.

When you meditate sit with the dignity of a queen or king. When you move through your day remain centered in your dignity.

Let your mind become clear like a still forest pool.

If you let cloudy water settle, it will become clear. If you let your upset mind settle, your course will also be clear.

Roses become compost. Compost feeds the garden for the growth of the new roses.

Life lives on life. We all eat and are eaten. When we forget this, we cry. When we remember this, we can nourish one another.

If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly our whole life would change.

Simplicity brings more happiness than complexity.

Like a mother of the world, touch each being as your beloved child.

Harm no other beings. They are your brothers and sisters.

As you travel through life, offer good wishes to each being you meet.

As you walk, eat and travel be where you are. Otherwise you will miss most of your life.

When you eat, eat slowly and listen to your body. Let your stomach tell you when to stop not your eyes or tongue.

The heart is like a garden it can grow compassion or fear resentment or love. What seeds will you plant there?

Where is the path of fear in the path of love which will you follow?

Weigh the true advantages of forgiveness and resentment to the heart, then choose.

Words have the power to destroy or heal. When words are both true and kind they can change your world.

The Mind contains all possibilities.

In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities in the experts mind there are few.

If you cannot find the truth right where you are, where else do you think you will find it?

Don’t keep searching for the truth just let go of your opinions.

Whoever sees the truth, sees the Buddha.

True freedom comes when we follow our Buddha nature, the natural goodness of the heart.

To open your heart like a Buddha you must embrace the 10000 joys and the 10000 sorrows.

Our sorrows and wounds are healed only when we touch them with compassion. Most of the sorrows of the earth humans cause for themselves.

How well did you love?

How fully did you live?

How deeply did you learn to let go?

To do list for today…exhale…inhale…exhale

If you take care of each moment, you will take care of all time.

If you wish to know the divine, feel the wind on your face and the warm sun on your face.

No matter how difficult the past, you can always begin today.

Amazing Grace Lyrics

John Newton (1725-1807)

Stanza 6 anon.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,

That saved a wretch like me.

I once was lost but now am found,

Was blind, but now I see.

T’was Grace that taught my heart to fear.

And Grace, my fears relieved.

How precious did that Grace appear

The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares

I have already come;

‘Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far

and Grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me.

His word my hope secures.

He will my shield and portion be,

As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,

And mortal life shall cease,

I shall possess within the veil,

A life of joy and peace.

When we’ve been here ten thousand years

Bright shining as the sun.

We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise

Than when we’ve first begun.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,

That saved a wretch like me.

I once was lost but now am found,

Was blind, but now I see.
