You are not this suffering! Your true nature is infinite, like the sky. It is always open, yielding, receptive, and ever expansive. This is your core essence. The essential true “you” cannot change, and yet allows the changing weather patterns (feelings and thoughts) to pass on through. Just like the sky allows every cloud to move through it, your vast infinite self allows every thought, feeling, and experience to pass through it as well.
Sometimes your “inner clouds” are light and airy (like cirrus clouds) and can pass through easily. Other times your inner weather may become deep, dark and dismal, like massive thunderstorms which can hang around for hours. The blessed news is that no matter which type of clouds are passing through your mind right now; you can simply witness them, and realize you are as vast and limitless as the sky and effortlessly let them pass on by.

You have total freedom to obsess, dwell upon, and hang onto these clouds or let them go. Holding tightly causes them to build up energy and form these powerful compacted storms and spinning hurricanes creating chaotic feelings about your life. This holding pattern only happens so that you can one day recognize that you also have the freedom to sit back, relax, and observe them at a distance as the biggest of cumulonimbus clouds float on by. You are already free right now to let any type of thought pass through your mind that causes you ANY suffering. You can watch whatever thoughts arise and fall away from your consciousness without becoming enslaved to them. This gives you back your power, so that you can LET GO of this wild ephemeral world and allow yourself to experience the vastness that you truly are. This vastness is the bliss you have always been looking for and is always available.

It is only when you become overly attached to a particular thought, feeling, or belief passing by that you experience suffering. Imagine if the sky above could somehow trap every cloud passing by and stick to the next one and so forth. We would all be living in one massive fog! When you believe a certain cloud is more important than your vastness, it will tend to stick. Fortunately, the winds of your consciousness naturally move and blow each cloud through. You don’t have to do anything; they naturally pass on by on their own. If you avoid or attach yourself to any thought, only then will fog accumulate.

Notice which thoughts you typically have about yourself that tend to get stuck and repeat themselves. Which ones are creating those dreary foggy nights, massive rainy storms, and turbulent hurricanes over and over? If you continue to believe in these thoughts, they form into weather patterns and climate behaviors that keep you stuck in the world of suffering. This can make you blind from seeing the Divine perfection you already are, and the true vastness of your being. The more often you meditate, the faster you will be able to drop into and remain in this vastness. It’s the golden secret to letting go of that old enslavement your thoughts have held over you. When these thoughts subside, you are left with a vast ocean of peace and bliss. Your being is naturally brimming with the joy of just existing. You don’t have to do a thing or change your outer world for you to experience this joy permeating inside. Your inherent nature is that of a bright blue cloud-less sky where there is no thought or mind.
